Thermal treatment of heavy-metal-containing wastes

1981
Abstract For some years the thermal treatment of heavy-metal-containing wastes, such as hydroxide sludges from the plating industries, has been investigated, especially in Japan, in order to reduce the environmental impact of dumping them. In principle, this can be accomplished by immobilising the heavy metals in the waste or removing them by volatilisation, hence preventing their being leached.
