93 Hyponatraemia in lung cancer: an audit of recognition and management
2014
Standardised CXR rates varied widely between primary care practices and the odds of early death were highest in those practices which requested more CXRs. Conclusion: Early diagnosis of lung cancer hinges on timely recognition of clinical clues in at risk populations. Patients who die early are interacting with primary care in the run-up to diagnosis, suggesting potential missed opportunitiesto identify them earlier in the disease process. A blanket increase in CXRs at primary care level does not appear to be the answer to improving survival in the immediate post-diagnosis period, andfurther work needs to be done to establish the role of the CXR in the diagnostic pathway.
