Determination of Chol-1 Antigen in Human Brain and Neuroblastoma Tumor

1987
Chol-1 antigen has been found to be specific for cholinergic neurons in the electric organ of Torpedo Marmorata and guinea-pig brain (1). The antiserum raised against synaptosomes from electric organ has been shown in mammalian brain to bind to a ganglioside antigen (Chol-1) localized on specifically cholinergic terminals (1,2,3) as shown by immunohistochemical methods and immunotoxicity assay.
