The article justifies the model of pedagogical support of the formation of cognitive competence of high school students while learning school subjects. While designing the model it was focuses on the accounting conceptual ideas: an anthropological approach – in justifying the principles of organization of the pedagogical process, based on the formation of cognitive competence of senior pupils; of cultural and integrative synergistic approaches – in the view of pedagogical support as interoperability of "high school student identity" and "policultural educational environment of the school" and determining the conditions of the effectiveness of this interaction; active-working approach and personality-oriented learning – to identify strategies and means of pedagogical support. Designed model is the basis for the development of technological procedures for implementing competence-based approach in general education.
