The investigation of production process features and properties of Nb/sub 3/Sn superconductors with extended internal tin sources

1992
The main stages of the production of multifilamentary stabilized Nb/sub 3/Sn-base superconductors with extended tin sources and niobium filament size down to 1 mm are investigated. It is shown that the application of different patterns of superconductor production makes it possible to vary over a wide range the content of stabilizing copper in a finished wire. The possibility of producing superconductors with the stabilizing copper content from 25 to 60% by the pattern suggested is shown. On the basis of preliminary investigations of the relation between heat-treatment parameters and the superconducting properties, it is established that critical current density (without copper) attains a value of 2.0*10/sup 5/ A/cm/sup 2/ in a field of 8 T. >
