A CASE OF CHONDROMA OF THE LUNG

1998
A 72-year-old man, who was pointed out an abnormal shadow in the left upper lung field on a chest X-ray film at a medical checkup in November, 1996, was seen at the hospital. CT scan of the lung revealed a regular nodsule 1cm in diameter at S3 of the lung. He was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of a tumor of the lung. We performed a thoracoscopic wedgeresection of the right S3 on March 13, 1997, when the tumor in the right S3 could be simply found. The tumor was well-defined, elastic hard and 10×8mm in diameter and white in cross section. Histologically, the diagnosis of chondroma of the lung was made. Chondromas of the lung are relatively rare. In a review of the Japanese literature, only 24 cases of chondroma of the lung including our case have been reported so far. We persent a case of chondroma of the lung, together with some bibliographical commnts.
