Neues Gleisoberbausystem Durflex

The Frenzel-Bau Group, in cooperation with Bayer MaterialScience AG and the latter's 100% subsidiary, Hennecke GmbH, has developed an innovative track system called Durflex. Its salient features include its excellent noise-abatement properties and its long service life. The central characteristic of this innovative system is that the cavities between the individual ballast stones are entirely filled with polyurethane (PU) foam. The PU foam holds the ballast stones in place and cushions their movements. In this way, Durflex dampens the structure-borne noise. A further advantage is that the maintenance interval can be extended to a multiple of what is usual for a ballasted railway track.
