One of the current issues in Neurosciences is to be able to simultaneously record the activities of a large number of cells within large-area networks of neurons, and to be able to stimulate in a dynamic way these networks in order to control their activities. The goal of the Neurocom project is to develop a high density microelectrode array system integrated on silicon, to record and stimulate wide-area networks of living (in vitro) neurons. This device will consist of an electrode microstructure connected to an integrated analog circuit (preamplification, filtering, multiplexing, stimulation) interfaced via a digital board connected to a PC for acquisition and control.
