The complete mitochondrial genome of the Hexagrammos otakii (Scorpaeniformes: Hexagrammidae)

2015
AbstractThe complete mitochondrial genome of the Hexagrammos otakii has been sequenced. The mitochondrial genome is 16 513 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and one control region. The gene order and composition of H. otakii mitochondrial genome was similar to that of most other vertebrates. The overall nucleotides base composition of the heavy strand is A (26.90%), G (17.33%), C (29.87%), and T (25.90%). With the exception of the NADH dehydrogenase subunit 6 (ND6) and eight tRNA genes, all other mitochondrial genes are encoded on the heavy strand. The 22 tRNA genes could be folded into a typical clover-leaf secondary structure. Seen from the phylogenetic tree, H. otakii, Hexagrammos agrammus and Hexagrammos lagocephalus from the same genus clustered into one branch.
