Artificial heart ventricular design having space and performance characteristics comparable to the heart.
1970
Abstract This paper is a report on the development of a complete artificial ventricle assembly having a size comparable to the existing human heart, with an indicated overall hydrodynamic performance equal to, or better than, the healthy heart and with blood passages characterized by obstruction-free and stagnation-free flow. Further, internal automatic flow control of each individual ventricle output must be provided on a pulse by pulse basis, insensitive to position and comparable in response and sensitivity to the intact heart.
