Nouveaux concepts physiopathologiques du syndrome clinique d'hyperactivité vésicale New physiopathological concepts in over-active bladder syndrome

2009
Overactive bladder (OAB) is characterised by symptoms of urgency, with or without incontinence, and usually with urinary frequency and nocturia. Recent findings have established that OAB is primarily related to abnormal sensory processing of continence. The various pathological conditions associated with OAB are all characterised by features resulting from altered function of the urothelium, nerves and detrusor smooth muscle and may partly stem from issues concerning the growth factors that orchestrate neural plasticity.
