Artificial ion channel formed from isophthalic acid

2015
In this paper, we developed a new artificial transmembrane channel from isophthalic acid. The dynamic fluorescence experiments on lipid vesicles and patch clamp experiments on planar lipid bilayer demonstrated that isophthalic acid could form stable transmembrane channels in lipid bilayer driven by the hydrogen bonding and p-p stacking interactions. The channels displayed high transport efficiency and selectivity for cations.
