Effect of Xuesaitong on brain cell apoptosis in rats with ischemia-reperfusion injury

objective To study the effect of Xuesaitong(XST) on brain cell apoptosis in rats with ischemia-reperfusion injury.Method Focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion in rats was induced by the method of nylon monofilament via the internal carotid artery.After 2 hours,perfusion was recovered by pulling out the suture.Twelve hours later,apoptosis cells and the level of calcium in brain tissue were measured.Results The results showed that XST could reduce brain cell apoptosis(P0.01),and lower the level of calcium(P0.01).Conclusion It is suggested that XST can protect against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by reducing apoptosis rate and lowering the level of calcium in brain tissue.
