Development and bioevaluation of (o)-82Br[77Br]-bromohippuran

Abstract We show that ( o )-[ 82/77 Br]bromohippuran ([ 82/77 Br]-C 6 H 4 CONHCH 2 COONa) with unlabelled ( o )-iodohippuran (I-C 6 H 4 CONHCH 2 COONa) as carrier has in vivo properties analogous to ( o )-[ 131 I]iodohippuran in rabbits and mice, while 77 Br has some chemical, nuclidic and physiological advantages over 131 I. This particular study was sufficiently encouraging to warrant a separate follow up study, currently in progress, with more advanced investigations on animals, while the main objective is eventual clinical trials, including whole body dosimetry studies.
