Synthesis and photoluminescence properties of novel orange-red emitting triphosphate CaNa4(P3O9)2: Eu3+ phosphor

2019
Abstract Orange-red emitting phosphors CaNa4(P3O9)2: Eu3+ were firstly prepared via the solid-state reaction. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the single phase and structure of CaNa4(P3O9)2. The surface microstructure and luminescence properties of phosphors were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and photoluminescence excitation (PLE) and emission spectra (PL). The excitation and emission spectra of CaNa4(P3O9)2: Eu3+ revealed that phosphors matched well with the wavelength of near-ultraviolet light and exhibited orange-red emission at about 595 nm under n-UV excitation, respectively. Moreover, the concentration quenching, quantum efficiency (QE) and the CIE coordinates were systematically discussed. These findings indicate the potential application of the novel CaNa4(P3O9)2: Eu3+ phosphors in white LEDs.
