Electroluminescence in TGS ferroelectric crystals

1981
Abstract To understand the switching induced electroluminescence in ferroelectrics, the emission of x-ray irradiated samples of TGS is presented showing that it takes place at the crystal electrode interfaces. The calculation of the emission for non-irradiated samples, based on the variation of the complex permittivity during switching and an electron injection in the surface layers from the electrodes, results in a 1=1 (t) curve that fits the experimental one.
