Fourier transform infrared study of biomedical carbon

The results of the IR studies of carbon fibers subject to natural biological conditions are shown. Analysis of the IR spectra enabled us to perform the probable mechanism of interaction between the living tissue and carbon fiber. Due to this interaction a gradual biodegradation of carbon fibers takes place (fragmentation into fine particles) which results in removal of the products from natural tissue.
