The Effect of Perfectionism and Ability Beliefs on Stage Anxiety and Performance Confidence of Practical Dance Major Students

This study aims to substantiate the influence relationship of perfectionism and ability belief in college students majoring in practical dance on stage anxiety and performance confidence. The results of the study, which conducted exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS window ver. 23 program, are as follows. First, the individual standards of perfectionism had negative effects on the emotional and physical anxiety of stage anxiety. Precariousness of performance and anxiety of making mistakes had positive effects on the emotional, physical, cognitive anxiety of stage anxiety. Second, the individual standards of perfectionism had positive effects on the dance proficiency, cognitive efficiency and resilience of the performance confidence, and anxiety of making mistakes had negative effects of the dance proficiency, cognitive efficiency and resilience of the performance confidence. Third, the fixed belief of ability belief had a positive effects on the emotional, physical and cognitive anxiety of stage anxiety, and the increased belief had a negative effect on physical anxiety. Fourth, the increased belief in ability belief has had positive effects on the dance proficiency, cognitive efficiency and resilience of the performance confidence.
