Release of Biogenic Amines from Isolated Nerve Endings

1976
Two essential biochemical steps of the aminergic neurotransmission are the release of the neurotransmitter and its reuptake by presynaptic nerve terminals. Many neuroactive drugs are believed to modify the availability of the neurotransmitter amines in the synaptic cleft by interacting with these processes 8, 10, 14, 20, 23.
