Comprehension and Informed Consent: Assessing the Effect of a Short Consent Form
2010
To address the issues of confusion with consent forms this study evaluated the effect of a shorter and simpler consent form on comprehension and satisfaction of research participants. The study found that neither comprehension nor satisfaction was affected by the length or complexity of the consent form. However participants that were paid seemed to have a higher comprehension though more research is needed to further explain relationships among motivations payment and comprehension.
