A LEARNING PROCESS SIMULATOR FOR IMAGE FORMATION WITH LENS ES USING WEB SEMANTIC TECHNIQUES

The project called” Simulator for image formation with lenses using web s emantic techniques” is a system developed under semantic web and J2EE technologie s. This big system is composed by subsystems set in order to improve the t eaching and learning activity in a didactic way using a virtual laboratory in the opti cal area. The simulator’s subsystems are: Simulation, User Management, Teaching, Interact ion, Tracking, and a help section. This last was constructed in order to bring help to people about optical fields and specific software aspects. In today’s modern life informatics technologies have become a us eful tool in order to improve the learning way in the education system. These technologi es can be applied as lab simulators in places where it is very expensive a physical l ab and as a powerful tool for the teacher. The simulator was designed with a closer relationshop wit h the real situation[1] and was not thought as a substitute for the teacher. The aim was t o help in the learning process for students because virtual scenarios can increase the skills and kno wledge stock based in most didactic methods. This system was designed using web semantic te chniques under the J2EE rules. The aspect to be studied in this tool is optical physics appl ied to image formation with lenses. In this case we simulate lenses configurations in virtual scenarios working real phenomena as reflection, refraction of light and virtual image for mation. The simulation scenario constructed is less expensive than the real cost of a real lab implementation but can be used for much more students at the same time.
