CAROTID STENOSIS IS AN INDEPENDANT PREDICTOR OF POST-OPERATIVE STROKE IN ON-PUMP CARDIAC SURGERY

2015
s S61 RESULTS: A total of 6008 revascularization procedures made up the final study group with 60% undergoing PCI. The pre and post publication cohorts consisted of n1⁄45193 (86%) and n1⁄4815 (14%) respectively. Both cohorts were well matched for age, sex, cardiac risk factors, LVEF, presence of renal insufficiency, indication for revascularization and urgency of revascularization. The rate of prior myocardial infarction was higher in the post-publication cohort 58% vs. 31% (P<001). The PCI to CABG ratio during the pre and post publication time periods was 1.58; 95% CI, (1.49-1.67) and 0.99; 95% CI, (0.85-1.13) respectively. The figure below shows the PCI:CABG ratio by 6 monthly intervals for the study period. CONCLUSION: In this first “Real World” experience of revascularization in DM patients with multivessel CAD post -FREEDOM, there has been a marked increase in the proportion of patients undergoing CABG in BC. The publication of the FREEDOM trial has led to significant changes in practice. These changes will have major resource allocation implications. Further observations are needed to see if the changes will be sustained. 123 CAROTID STENOSIS IS AN INDEPENDANT PREDICTOR OF POSTOPERATIVE STROKE IN ON-PUMP CARDIAC SURGERY E Ruka, O Lesur, M Buruian, E Voisine, F Dagenais, V Chauvette, P Voisine
