The present invention relates to functional Kimchi for alleviating the obesity and a manufacturing method thereof. The manufacturing method of Kimchi according to the present invention is characterized in further adding 10-30 parts by weight of a functional additive for alleviating the obesity to 100 parts by weight of Kimchi source materials in the process of manufacturing Kimchi by adding seasoning to Kimchi source materials, wherein the functional additive for alleviating the obesity comprises 80-99 weight% of health functional food materials and 1-20 weight% of functional nutrients. Kimchi manufactured according to the present invention is beneficially used for obesity patients as health functional food materials are abundantly contained, which reduce body fat, assist in the defecation activity, lower the blood glucose level, control the intestinal absorption of sugar, and prevent carbohydrates from being decomposed into glucose so as to provide a function to alleviate the obesity.
