The effect of different doses of chlormadinone on the vaginal epithelium the endometrium and the cervical mucus

1970
35 women were administered chlormadinone daily in doses of 2.0 and 3.0 mg for a period covering a toal of 140 menstrual cycles. Sequential and combined cyclical therapy were both used. The ovaries of these patients were deprived of their own endocrinal function but retained susceptibility of the target tissues. The 3.0 mg dose of chlormainone was found to exert a stronger progestational effect which was not dependent upon the type of treatment used. The 2.0 mg dose was not found to be sufficient to cause a full progestational effect in the vaginal or uterine epithelium.(Authors modified)
