The problem of spectral analysis of polarized light. Some cases in polychromatic and coherent optics

The description of polarized light and of optical component effects in the time domain is extended in the frequency domain. It therefore follows that Jones matrices are transfer matrices. Coherency matrices, Stokes vectors and Mueller matrices correspond respectively with spectral energetic density matrices, spectral Stokes vectors and spectral Mueller matrices. Spectral polarization change of light is studied in three different cases: the rotating depolarizer ellipsometry in order to explain the effect of the depolarizing retardation plate; the retardation plate set in a Fabry-Perot interferometer; holography in polarized light. The restored wave is given as a function of the spectral energetic densities of the recording light-source.
