Computational human knee joint model for determining sliding-rolling properties

2008
This paper represents a short study about the kinematics of the human knee joint in the case of squatting. In the analysis of the previously mentioned motion the emphasis is laid on the kinematic properties. Primarily the sliding and rolling properties of the human condyles are examined, especially those domains where pure rolling, rolling and sliding jointly, and pure sliding may occur. Since only the two extremities are well known in the theoretical and applied mechanics, this paper wishes to furnish further information on the subject. These results can be essential for further investigations of the phenomena of the combination of rolling and sliding.
