Artificial Intelligence in Medicine

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the field of computer science that works on the development of intelligent machines that can perform tasks like humans. This human-made brainpower started more than 60 years ago. With earlier generations of applications, the aim was to show general human-like behavior. The remarkable progress made over the years cannot be flouted as systems are becoming overly cultured and capable of fulfilling their different purposes. With the advancement and increased compliance of this technology, the aim goes beyond the basics. It incorporates industries like health care, gaming, and smart devices. Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIM) refers to the utilization of complex algorithms and programs in the diagnosis and treatment suggestions to patients, and comparative analysis of convoluted medical data without the direct contribution of any human. Powered by the competence to decrease the amount of human error, it predicted that AI performs most of the tasks currently done by doctors and physicians. In this paper, we conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) to provide a structured overview of the current state of the literature regarding Artificial Intelligence in Medicine in fourfolds. First, we state its beginning and to-date journey. Second, its significance in foremost and latest applications. Third, the challenges faced in its progress and adaptability. Fourth, the gaps needed to fill in the future. The purpose of this SLR is to provide a piece of updated information for future researchers who wish to adhere to this field.
