Assessment of Food Consumption Pattern and Nutritional Status of School Going Children of Faizabad District

The investigation was conducted to study the socio-economic profile and food consumption pattern of school going children of 7–9 years of age from Mawai Block, Faizabad District of Uttar Pradesh State (India). Four hundred school going children were selected purposely. Information was collected on socioeconomic profile, food frequency, mean daily food intake and nutrient intake of school going children. The data revealed that cereal and pulses, a staple food was consumed daily. The mean daily food and nutrient intake of school going children were lower than RDA. Intake of cereals, pulses and milk and milk products was found higher in boys than girls. Intake of energy, iron, calcium and thiamin was marginally inadequate in majority of school going children.
