A method comprising: providing a composition comprising bentonite barrier bentonite; a polyanionic polymer and low molecular weight, wherein the polyanionic polymer low molecular weight has an average molecular weight of about 1,000,000 or less and wherein the polymer comprises a polymer selected from the group consisting of: a hydrolyzed acrylamide low molecular weight, a polyacrylate, a polyanionic cellulose, sodium polystyrene sulfonate, pectin, carrageenan, an alginate, polyvinylpyrrolidone, and any combination thereof; and forming a containment which uses the bentonite barrier composition to provide at least a partial separation of containment on the environment.
