Gamma-gamma directional correlations in 135Xe following the decay of 135I

Abstract The level scheme of 135 Xe was investigated via the angular correlation of γ-rays using a Ge(Li) and a NaI(T1) detector. The angular correlation of the 526.5–1131.6, 836.8–1131.6, 1124.1–1131.6, 417.5–1260.5, and 220.5–1458.1 keV γ-ray cascades were measured. The spin and parity of the 2256.7, 1968.4, 1448.6 and 1131.6 keV levels were deduced to be 7 2 + , 5 2 + , 3 2 + , and 7 2 + respectively. The levels of 135 Xe are compared to the level structure of other N = 81 isotones and are discussed in the context of the particle-core coupling model.
