‘What Has Happened to You, Europe?’ The Future of Europe As Peoples’ Union

The EU multi-crisis of recent years has shown the basic issues and challenges European Union is called to face in order to become “an ever closer union among the peoples of Europe”, that is for advancing in its integration process towards a more structured and functional democratic polity. Such issues may be thus summarised: the ‘legitimacy’ issue; the ‘identity’ issue, and the ‘government’ issue.
