Systems and methods for elastically averaged alignment

In one aspect, a system is provided for elastically averaged orientation. The system includes a first component having an alignment member, said alignment member having a plurality of segments. The system also includes a second component having an interior wall defining a Ausrichtdurchbrechung, wherein the Ausrichtdurchbrechung is configured to receive the alignment member to couple the first component and the second component. The aligning member is a resiliently deformable material, so that when the alignment member is inserted into the Ausrichtdurchbrechung, the alignment member deforms elastically to an elastically averaged final configuration to assist alignment of the first component and the second component in a desired orientation.
