Memórias e representações sociais do telejornalismo policial sobre a intervenção federal no Rio de Janeiro

2020
This article discusses the federal intervention measure in Rio de Janeiro, seeking to understand its implementation despite previous military experiences in Rio de Janeiro. In this regard, this study aimed to analyze the memories and social representations of police telejournalism about the intervention and point out the peculiarities of the new military experience. As our research methodology, we adopted the literature review and the analysis of official statements regarding with the intervention, as well as the content analysis of police news stories. Among the possible theoretical references for the study of memory, this work is supported by the writings of Halbwachs ([1950] 1990) on collective memory, and the Theory of Social Representations, elaborated by Serge Moscovici ([2000] 2005). In this step, it became evident that the representations about social insecurity in Rio de Janeiro and the effectiveness of the intervention, shared by the collective memory of police telejournalism, justify and legitimize the intervention measure.
