Enhanced Productivity of the Telisa Sand Through Improved Fracture Stimulation Technique

1994
Abstract Hydraulic fracturing of the shallow Telisa Formation in Central Sumatra was initiated in 1990. The economics of production of this soft, heterogeneous sandstone is greatly improved by hydraulic fracture stimulation. A paper was written and presented to the 1991 Twentieth Annual Indonesian Petroleum Association at the initiation of this project. This paper will update on what has been recognized and new techniques that are being utilized. Areas looked at are P3D fracture simulations, fracture height measurement with radioactive tracer material, utilization of encapsulated breakers and the use bottom hole gauges for real-time surface readout.
