The invention discloses a display and a manufacturing method thereof. The display comprises a TFT (thin film transistor) substrate, a color film substrate, a pixel unit and an opaque deformation layer. The TFT substrate and the color film substrate are arranged in opposite, the TFT substrate comprises a first TFT element and a second TFT element, and a light permeable area between the first TFT element and the second TFT element is a pixel area; the pixel unit is arranged on the surface of one side, facing the color film substrate, of the TFT substrate and positioned on the surface of the pixel area, and the pixel unit comprises a transparent reference level layer which is arranged on the surface of one side, facing the color film substrate, of the TFT substrate; the opaque deformation layer is arranged on the reference level layer and insulated from the same. The display is simple in structure and low in manufacturing cost.
