Cesium uptake ability of a nonwoven fabric supporting iron hexacyanoferrate nanoparticles from solutions of coexisting alkali metal ions

2020
Abstract The Cs+ adsorption by the nonwoven fabric sheet supporting nanoparticles of iron hexacyanoferrate (FeHCF-sheet) was executed in solutions containing 0.1 µg/L-10 mg/L Cs+. Even for the most dilute concentration (0.1 µg/L), the distribution coefficient (Kd) of Cs+ was 104–105. The maximum Cs+ adsorption capacity was about 156 mg/g, where the adsorbent weight meant only FeHCF weight without nonwoven fabric. The effects of coexisting ions on Kd was examined for 100–105 mg/L of coexisting alkali metal ions (Na+, K+, Rb+). The results suggest that the FeHCF-sheet is suitable for use even in seawater or ash extraction of such dense concentrations.
