The invention relates to a method and a correspondingly configured apparatus for control of a vehicle air conditioner refrigerant circuit comprising at least one compressor, at least one condenser or gas cooler, and at least one evaporator, at the refrigerant inlet a controllable refrigerant expansion device is connected, wherein a refrigerant underfilling of the refrigeration cycle is recognizable and, upon detection of an undesired refrigerant underfilling the control strategy of the expansion device is changed.
