Xanthobacter autotrophicus is a Gram-positive, aerobic, pleomorphic and nitrogen-fixing bacteria from the family of Xanthobacteraceae which has been isolated from black pool sludge in Germany. Xanthobacter autotrophicus can utilize 1,2-dichloroethane, methanol and propane.
