Thermococcaceae

In taxonomy, the Thermococcaceae are a family of the Thermococcales. Almost all species within the three genera of Thermococcaceae were isolated from hydrothermal vents in the ocean. All are strictly anaerobes. The currently accepted taxonomy is based on the List of Prokaryotic names with Standing in Nomenclature and National Center for Biotechnology Informationand the phylogeny is based on 16S rRNA-based LTP release 106 by 'The All-Species Living Tree' Project.
