Acheilognathus

Acheilognathus is a genus of cyprinid fish native to Asia. The name is derived from the Greek a, meaning 'without', the Greek cheilos, meaning 'lip', and the Greek gnathos, meaning 'jaw'. Fishes of this genus have length from 5 to 27 cm. They are small and the shape is likely to the fishes of genus Puntius. There are currently 41 recognized species in this genus:
