Lachnospiraceae

The Lachnospiraceae are a family of bacteria in the order of Clostridiales that occur in the human and mammalian gut microbiota. All species of this family are anaerobic. Members of this family may protect against colon cancer in humans by producing butyric acid. Lachnospiraceae have been found to cause diabetes in germ-free mice.
