Acetylxylan esterase

In enzymology, an acetylxylan esterase (EC 3.1.1.72) is an enzyme that catalyzes a chemical reaction, the deacetylation of xylans and xylo-oligosaccharides. In enzymology, an acetylxylan esterase (EC 3.1.1.72) is an enzyme that catalyzes a chemical reaction, the deacetylation of xylans and xylo-oligosaccharides. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases, specifically those acting on carboxylic ester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is likewise acetylxylan esterase. As of late 2007, 4 structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes 1QOZ, 2C71, 2C79, and 2CC0.
