Multifunctional Ternary Oxide for Efficient CsPbBr₃ Perovskite Solar Cells on Rigid and Flexible Substrate via All-Low-Temperature Process

Efficient CsPbBr3 perovskite films and the low-temperature fabrication of electron transport layers (ETLs) are crucial for the commercial viability of CsPbBr3 perovskite solar cells (PSCs). We present a vapor-assisted solution technique that produces high-quality CsPbBr3 perovskite films without annealing. Doping ZnO with trivalent metals such as yttrium (Y), antimony (Sb), and iron (Fe) improves the electrical properties and energy alignment with CsPbBr3. Our experiments show that Sb doping enhances charge extraction and reduces interface carrier recombination to achieve a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 9.55% in the inorganic CsPbBr3 PSCs. The optimized device maintains over 90% of its original PCE after 90 days under 65% relative humidity and 65 °C. Additionally, flexible CsPbBr3 PSCs with an Sb-ZnO ETL achieve a record 6.06% efficiency with remarkable mechanical durability to retain 91.8% of initial PCE after 1000 bending cycles at a 3 mm curvature radius.

Ecofriendly Mn₃O₄ as a Novel Hole Transport Material for Efficient and Ultrastable Flexible and Rigid Perovskite Solar Cells

Exploring ecofriendly, low-cost, and chemically stable hole transport materials (HTMs) is of great significance for the commercial application of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In view of this, we first employed the inorganic p-type semiconductor trimanganese tetraoxide (Mn3O4) as a HTM prepared by vacuum vapor deposition for flexible and rigid PSCs. It was revealed that the Mn3O4 material presented a suitable band structure, outstanding electrical conductivity, and hole mobility, which was a potential HTM for PSCs. The optimized flexible and rigid PSCs based on the Mn3O4 thickness (50 nm) achieved the best photoelectric conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 15.58 and 18.07%, respectively. More importantly, the unencapsulated rigid device based on Mn3O4 exhibited outstanding stability and retained 91.7% of the original PCE after storage for 1000 h at double 85 condition (85 °C and 85 ± 5% relative humidity). Additionally, the target flexible PSCs still maintained 92.3% of the initial efficiency after 1000 bending cycles with a radius of 5 mm. Obviously, the Mn3O4 semiconductor is a promising candidate as a HTM compatible with flexible and rigid PSCs, which plays a pivotal role in improving the stability of the devices. It is believed that our research results provide new insights for realizing cost-effective and ultrastable photovoltaic devices.

Recent advances in perovskite/Cu(In,Ga)Se2 tandem solar cells

Tandem solar cells (TSCs) are poised to revolutionize photovoltaic (PV) technology as they hold the promise of a significantly higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) compared to the current dominant single-junction solar cells. TSCs are composed of two different absorbing materials, strategically utilizing the shared incident solar spectrum to achieve a synergistic boost in PCE. The perovskite/Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) TSCs, as a cutting-edge and prospective solar energy conversion device, have sparked widespread research interest by synergistically combining the unique advantages of perovskite and CIGS materials. This comprehensive review presents a thorough investigation of the latest research advancements in perovskite/CIGS TSCs, with a specific focus on the intricacies of device structure design and state-of-the-art fabrication methods. Significant attention is devoted to elucidating the pivotal role of interface engineering, material composition optimization, and precise control of processing parameters in determining the PV performance of the devices. By optimizing the stacked architecture and enhancing material interfaces, the review demonstrates how substantial improvements have been achieved in terms of high-efficiency PV conversion and superior carrier transport, consequently elevating the performance and long-term device stability. Finally, the review provides a compelling outlook on the future development of perovskite/CIGS TSCs, aiming to drive further advancements and practical applications of this advanced technology.

Energy Level Alignment Regulation and Carrier Management in Perovskite Solar Cells with Various Bandgaps Using Tailored Metal‐Organic Frameworks

Abstract The interface energy level alignment modulation and charge carrier transportation play an important role in the device performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, tailored hydrophobic metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) are employed as interfacial layers between perovskite absorbers and hole transport layers (HTLs). The tailored MOFs feature abundant carboxylic acid groups capable of bonding with Pb 2+ and organic cations, which can effectively passivate interface defects and suppress non‐radiative recombination. Meanwhile, the MOF interfacial layers optimized the energy level alignment between the perovskite and the HTL, further facilitating carrier transportation. Specifically, the CsFAMA‐based PSCs with a bandgap of 1.63 eV attained power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 23.06% upon modification with MOFs. Additionally, the MOFs‐treated FA‐based PSCs with a bandgap of 1.55 eV achieved a remarkable PCE of 24.81%, accompanied by an outstanding fill factor of 84.3% and a minimal open‐circuit voltage loss of merely 0.386 V. Furthermore, the integration of the MOF interfacial layer substantially improved the moisture stability of the PSCs. The unencapsulated CsFAMA PSCs modified with MOFs retained 91.2% of their initial efficiency after 2500 h of aging under ambient conditions with 40% relative humidity (RH). This work underpins the commercialization of PSCs with diverse bandgaps.

Can Highlighting Help GitHub Maintainers Track Security Fixes?

In recent years, the rapid growth of security vulnerabilities poses great challenges to tracing and managing them. For example, it was reported that the NVD database experienced significant delays due to the shortage of maintainers. Such delay creates challenges for third-party security personnel (e.g., administrators) to trace the information related to the CVE. To help security personnel trace a vulnerability patch, we build a retrieval system that automatically retrieves the patch in the repository. Inspired by existing work on explainable machine learning, we ask the following research question: can explanations help security maintainers make decisions in patch tracing? First, we investigate using LIME (a widely used explainable machine learning method) to highlight the rationale tokens in the commit message and code. In addition, we propose an explanation method called TfIdf-Highlight, which leverages the Tf-Idf statistics to select the most informative words in the repository and the dataset. We evaluate the effectiveness of highlighting using two experiments. First, we compare LIME and TfIdf-Highlight using a faithfulness score (i.e., sufficiency and comprehensiveness) defined for ranking. We find that TfIdf-Highlight significantly outperforms LIME's sufficiency scores by 15\% and slightly outperforms the comprehensiveness scores. Second, we conduct a blind human labeling experiment by asking the annotators to guess the patch under 3 settings (TfIdf-Highlight, LIME, and no highlight). We find that the helpfulness score for TfIdf-Highlight is higher than LIME while the labeling accuracies of LIME and TfIdf-Highlight are similar. Nevertheless, highlighting does not improve the accuracy over non-highlighting.

Significant Efficiency and Stability Enhancement of Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells Combining with Multifunctional Effects of a Natural Spice

Abstract The numerous defect‐induced non‐radiative recombination losses and residual stress in the preparation of perovskite film greatly hinder the further improvement of the efficiency and stability of flexible perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here, a natural spice 7‐amino‐4‐(trifluoromethyl)‐2‐benzopyrone (ATB) containing amino (─NH 2 ), carbonyl (─C═O), and trifluoromethyl (─CF 3 ) functional groups is introduced into the perovskite precursor solution, thereby preparing high‐quality perovskite film with low defect density. It is revealed that the utilization of ATB is beneficial to comprehensively passivate the defects and release the residual stress of perovskite film through the synergistic effect of functional groups, thereby improving the crystallinity and enhancing the carrier lifetime of perovskite film. Moreover, the introduction of ATB contributes to an improved energy levels alignment between the perovskite and adjacent layers, which facilitates fast carrier transport and suppresses the recombination loss in the flexible PSCs. Combined with the multifunctional effects of ATB, the target flexible and rigid PSCs with ATB modification yield remarkable photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) of 21.08% and 23.79%, respectively. More importantly, the ATB‐modified flexible device exhibits outstanding stability and retains 87.3% and 91.6% of the original efficiency after aging for 3000 h at 50 ± 5 relative humidity and 5000 bending cycles, respectively.

PEDOT:PSS-Nafion/n-Si Hybrid Heterojunction TOPCon Solar Cells: Experiment and Simulation

Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) is one of the most popular hole transport materials for replacing traditional high-temperature boron diffusion technology due to its low cost and easy preparation. However, pristine PEDOT:PSS has drawbacks, such as poor work function (WF) and poor film quality, which inhibit the improvement of cell efficiency. According to current research reports, a single dopant can improve only one of these two drawbacks. In this paper, we used Nafion to simultaneously improve the WF and wettability of PEDOT:PSS for preparing novel PEDOT:PSS/n-Si hybrid heterojunction solar cells with a tunnel-oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) back surface field structure, which we call PEDOT:PSS-Nafion (PPN)/n-Si hybrid heterojunction TOPCon solar cell. A cell efficiency of 11.08% was achieved after optimizing the ratio of PEDOT:PSS and Nafion. The three easily improved parameters, namely, series resistance (RS), reflectivity, and WF, were studied and optimized through simulation, achieving a cell efficiency of 20.66%. To reduce RS in the experiment, the Triton X-100-doped PEDOT:PSS film (PPTX) was introduced between the n-Si and PPN films to form highly conductive PPN/PPTX double hole transport layers, and the cell efficiency was increased from 11.08 to 13.7%. The experimental and simulated work presented a new thought and practical guidance for realizing low-cost, easy preparation, and high-efficiency silicon-based solar cells.
