3D steady-state MR cisternography in CSF rhinorrhoea

Purpose: To determine the utility of 3D steady-state MR cisternography in the demonstration and localisation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak in patients with clinically suspected CSF rhinorrhoea. Material and Methods: Six consecutive patients with clinically suspected CSF rhinorrhoea were examined with routine MR evaluation and MR cisternography (MRC). All MR examinations included fast spin-echo (SE) T1WI in axial and sagittal planes, fast SE T2WI in axial and coronal planes and fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) images in the axial plane. 3D evaluation was done using the CISS technique with 0.7-mm thickness in the sagittal and coronal planes. The site and extent of the defect, and any brain herniation detected on MRC were correlated with surgical findings. Results: In the 6 patients who underwent surgical exploration and repair, intraoperative findings correlated with the defect revealed by MRC in all cases. Conclusion: In clinically suspected CSF rhinorrhoea, MRC is highly accurate in localising the site and extent of CSF fistula and may be used as the first investigation due to its efficacy and non-invasive nature.

Parkinsonism "Plus" Syndrome With Incidental Corpus Callosal Agenesis

A case of Parkinsonism 'Plus' syndrome with cranial CT scan and MRI showing corpus callosal agenesis is reported. There were no clinical signs of callosal separation. The causes for the discrepancies between the lack of clinical signs of callosal separation and imaging appearances are discussed. The callosal agenesis is in all probability incidental.

Spectrum of Histopathological Study of Lesions of Nasal cavity and Paranasal Sinuses – A two Years Study

Introduction:The nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, and nasopharynx though in continuity form a complex system of upper respiratory tract; this region is endowed with a variety of elements such as epithelial, glandular, lymphoid, cartilage, and bone and is also exposed to a variety of infections, tumor-like and true neoplastic conditions.Materials and Methods: The present study is conducted to know the various inflammatory and neoplastic lesions of nasal cavity.The present study is a retrospective and prospective study done done for a period of two years.All the required clinical details were considered in our study.Results: The patients' age ranged from 18 months to 59 years.Majority of the lesions were inflammatory compared to neoplastic and males were commonly affected than females.Conclusion: Amongst the non-inflammatory lesion, nasal polyp is the commonest lesion.The common age group is second and third decades, with male predominance.Among the neoplastic lesions capillary haemangioma was commonest lesion followed by inverted papilloma.

Functional MR imaging of hand motor cortex in a case of persistent mirror movement.

MRI in subacute combined degeneration of spinal cord: a case report and review of literature.

A 56 year old man presented with acute onset posterior column and lateral spinothalamic tract dysfunction over a period of 15 days. MRI showed diffuse hyperintensity on T2WI involving the posterior columns. A diagnosis of subacute combined degeneration (SCD) of the spinal cord was considered and confirmed by laboratory findings. The patient showed complete recovery on B12 therapy. MRI lesion also compeletely resolved.

Unilateral Moyamoya Phenomenon Due to MCA Occlusion in a Child Presenting with Intracerebral Hemorrhage

Spontaneous middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion leading to moyamoya phenomenon is different from classical moyamoya disease. Previous studies have reported such phenomena in adults with ischemic lesions, except for a solitary case in a child.We report a case of a ten-year old girl who presented with a deep intracerebral hematoma and a normal ipsilateral middle cerebral artery on initial evaluation by CT. Subsequently, on follow-up angiography, the ipsilateral MCA was occluded with evidence of unilateral basal lenticulostriate and transdural collateral supply causing a 'moyamoya' phenomenon. This report discusses a rare and interesting disease from the perspective of 'moyamoya' phenomenon and angiogenesis.
