Formulation and Evaluation of Tablet in Capsule Device a Novel Approach for the Management of Pain with GI Protection

The Present study a Tablet in Capsule device containing Aceclofenac ER tablet and Misoprostol IR tablet for Pain Management with Gastro protection was formulated. Rationale of combining a NSAID and a prostaglandin analogue was well justified and the design of drug delivery system was made simple by encapsulating two different tablets (Aceclofenac and Misoprostol) in single capsule and it offers advantage in terms of GI protection, Patient Compliance and Chronotherapeutics. • Aceclofenac extended release tablet 200mg was formulated using various grades of hydrophilic polymer such as HPMC E50, HPMC K100 LV CR, HPMC K4M CR and HPMC K15M CR as release retardant to prolong the release for 12 hr . Misoprostol Immediate release tablet 200mcg was formulated using Crospovidone as superdisintegrant at 2%, 3% and 4%. Formulation characteristics such as precompression and postcompression studies of the developed formulations were carried out separately as per standard procedures. The tablets were found to be within the limits with respect to uniformity of weight, hardness, thickness, diameter, friability and drug content. In vitro dissolution studies for both the tablets were conducted separately. Aceclofenac ER formulation A8 was optimized based on the ideal release upto 12 hr The optimized Aceclofenac formulation followed Zero order release kinetics Based on the disintegration time Misoprostol IR formulation M3 was optimized The optimized formulations of Aceclofenac A8 and Misoprostol M3 were used for filling in size 0 elongated capsules. The stability studies under accelerated conditions of 40± 2°C /75±5% RH was found to be satisfactory.

Bamboo/Cotton Knitted Fabric for Thermal Comfort

In this article, the aim was to analyses the impact of different bamboo/cotton blend proportions on thermal comfort properties of knitted jersey fabrics. When the portion of bamboo fibre is increased in the blend either in yarn form or fabric form, it improves the thermal comfort properties. Since 100% bamboo knitted jersey is having high drape and not stable for many applications, various blend proportions of bamboo with cotton are used to make knitted jersey in this study. Knitted jersey fabrics made out of bamboo blends are less thick and lower in GSM than made out of fabrics using 100% cotton. Thermal conductivity of cotton is more than bamboo, so the blends of bamboo with cotton not only gives a better fabric for commercial use, but it also gives the required right value of thermal conductivity when used in gym, physical activities and sports applications. When proportion of bamboo is increased in the blend, both water vapor permeability and air permeability values are also increased in the fabric. The present study reports the synthesis of di-octyl phthalate (DOP), widely used as a plasticizer, via solvent-free esterification of phthalic acid and n -octanol over sulfated zirconia (SZr) heterogeneous acid catalyst. A comparison with other heterogeneous acid catalysts such as K-10 acid activated clay, zeolites (β and Y), Amberlyst-15 resin shows the superior activity of SZr, exhibiting maximum conversion of n -octanol (88%) with 93% DOP selectivity at 160 °C in 6 h. The rate of the reaction for SZr catalyst is computed as 17.3 mmol h −1 g −1 . The catalyst activity is stable upon recycling for up to five cycles. The weak acid sites of the catalyst are postulated as the responsible active centres involved in the reaction. The reaction has been successfully scaled up over twenty five times; and the product DOP (67 g, 99% by GC) isolated and characterized by FT-IR and 1 H NMR spectroscopy. It is noteworthy that the activity of SZr catalyst is comparable with that of H 2 SO 4 and p -toluene sulphonic acid ( p -TSA), which clearly suggets its potential as an efficient alternative to conventional commercial homogeneous acid catalysts for the synthesis of DOP.

Structural, Surface, Thermal and Catalytic Properties of Chitosan Supported Cu(II) Mixed Ligand Complex Materials

Schiff base modified chitosan (SC: salicylidenechitosan) has been synthesized by the condensation reaction of chitosan and salicylaldehyde. From this ligand, three Cu(II) mixed ligand complexes [Cu (SC) (SA)] (1), [Cu (SC) (ST)] (2) and [Cu (SC) (VA)] (3) (SA: salicyledeneaniline; ST: salicylidenethiourea; VA: o-vanillideneaniline) have been synthesized successfully. The structure and properties of the complexes have been characterized by spectral and analytical techniques. Their thermal and morphological properties have been also discussed in detail. The crystallinity of the compounds has explored with X-ray diffraction spectroscopy. The catalytic ability of the complexes has been investigated in the oxidation reaction of cyclohexane into cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone using hydrogen peroxide as oxidant and their catalytic activity is in the order of complex 1 > 2 < 3.
