Waste paper, hamburger wrappings, soft drink containers and other more intimate rubbish, reminders of human nocturnal activities, seem to collect in the street outside Mrs Porter's establishment and along the tufted grass where a cyclone wire fence prevents the careless walker from suiciding on the railway lines opposite. Immediately in front of the house is a lamp post and a street tree which has been neatly trimmed, some would say severely lopped, because of the overhead electricity wires...
