Proximate Composition and Tannin Content of some Forest Tree Leaves of Orissa

Twcntyone varieties of tree leaves from dry deciduous forests, 13 varieties from semi evergreen forests and 11 varieties from moist forests and hill slopes were analysed for proximate constituents and tannin content. The CP content ranged from 6.91 to 21.52 per cent and Ca from 0.52 to 3.99 per cent on DM basis. The P content was, in general, low in all tree leaves. The tannin content of tree leaves ranged from 0.98 to 13.12 per cent on DM basis. It was further observed that out of 45 tree leaves analysed, only 32 contained less than 5 per cent tannin. Leaves of Alangium salvifolium, Cycas circinalis and Heloptilea integrifolia trees contained more than 15 per cent CP and less than 2 per cent tannins on DM basis.

Yield, Chemical Composition and Nutritive Value of Banicha (Sesbania Aculeata) Fodder for Goats

Banicha (Sesbania aculeata) is a seasonal leguminous weed of Northern Orissa. Its green fodder and DM yield were 136.05 and 36.37 q/ha, respectively. The CP, EE, CF, NFE, total ash, Ca and P contents on DM basis were 18.70, 4.92, 35.42, 31.97, 8.99, 1.10 and 0.25 per cent, respectively. Six Black Bengal goats (6 months age) were fed on banicha fodder ad libitum to determine its nutritive value. The DM intake of 33.0 g/kg live weight suggested high palatability of banicha. The fodder supplied 12.43 per cent DCP and 54.64 per cent TDN on DM basis. The daily body weight gain was 9.37 g per head. All animals showed positive balance for N but the balances of Ca and P were negative. The study suggested that banicha fodder can be used as a very good protein source for goats.

ANN based modeling for stock market prediction

Analyzing stock market data and using recent developed algorithms for predicting the changes and forecasting the results is a difficult task nowaday. An efficient and faster method for selecting appropriate stock price improves market value as well as helps investors for benefits. In this paper new method implementing state of the art Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) known as Legendre Neural Network (LENN) and Chebyshev Functional Link based Artificial Neural Network (CHFLANN) has been described and used for the analysis of stock market data. The process has been efficiently implemented in MATLAB language for representing results by evaluating accuracy and F-measure for the processed data. Prior to it the database collected is passed through a series of processes starting from normalization, expansion and then dividing it into train and test datasets to get the processed data used for implementing the learning algorithm for the stock market price evaluation and prediction purpose. In the results second order expansion systems have been used showing accuracy results as well as Mean Square Error (MSE) rates to find best method among proposed schemes. Also, our proposed models have been compared with the statistical model AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and the basic Functional Link based Artificial Neural Network (FLANN) to analyze their performance based on the metrics like Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and R-Squared (R2).

Nutritive Value of Agasti (Sesbania Grand/Flora) Leaves in Goats

Six Black Bengal goats were fed exclusively on ugasti (Sesbania grandiflora) leaves which were found to be rich in protein (35.08 per cent CP) and low in fibre (11.93 per cent CF) and tannin (1.90 per cent). The DM intake was 3.50 ± 0.06 kg/100 kg body weight. The digestion co-efficients of DM, CP, CF, EE and NFE were 72.73 ± 0.91, 80.40 ± 0.86, 76.65 ± 0.76, 32.57 ± 1.28 and 84.25 ± 0.66, respectively. The average gain in body weight was 42.86 g per day. All the goats were in positive N, Ca and P balances. The DCP and TDN contents of the leaves were 27.71 and 72.87 per cent, respectively, suggesting that the agasti leaves could serve as a good fodder for growth in goats.
