Investigations on $N$ Values of Long Bi2223/Ag Tapes

High temperature superconducting tapes with big $n$ values are preferred in high temperature superconducting apparatuses to secure a speeded superconducting-normal transition, a shorten quench detection and protection response time because small $n$ values are associated with unstable resistive behaviors. This paper reports our measurement results of $n$ values distributions along long Bi2223/Ag tapes at 77 K. The results show that the variation of $n$ values is more distinct than that of critical currents along a long Bi2223/Ag tape. And the variation of local $n$ values has more effect on the overall $n$ value and the overall critical current of a long Bi2223/Ag tape than that of local critical currents. As a result, the overall $n$ value is an easy-to-get and reliable parameter to evaluate the critical current homogeneity along a long Bi2223/Ag tape.

Get website moving Get readers coming - A delightful user experience design make an online library lovable

Libraries from China tend to pay more attention to the amount of a digital library’s content than the interaction design. As a result, when readers visit a library website, they always feel a big gap between the user experience of the online library and the other websites. To improve this situation, every five years, Peking University Library re-evaluates and adjust the underlying technology and interaction design of the portal to ensure that the site will serve its readers better in the future. At the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the Peking University Library in 2018, we introduced user delight in the revision design of Peking University Library portal by upgrading the superficial delight and deep delight of the website, using the widely used Drupal open source platform, and keeping abreast of the current interactive experience frontier in interface design. UI embellishments can produce surface delight. We provide dynamic video background in the first screen of the homepage to promote the collection and interesting events held in the library. And we also offer a calendar for readers to catch up with library activities. We redesign the whole my-library system with an interesting interface that can change over time. Deep delight can be achieved in functional, reliable, and usable interfaces. We re-investigated the user and reorganized the portal navigation to help readers get the information they want more efficiently. And we connect the related content page to assist readers in finding relevant information. We hope to be more visual in the poster to talk about the interaction design idea of our website and also the feedback and experience from our readers.

Flow behaviour and microstructural evolution of Ti-17 alloy with lamellar microstructure during hot deformation in α+β phase field

The effect of process variables on flow response and microstructure evolution during hot working of Ti-17 (Ti–5Al–2Sn–2Zr–4Mo–4Cr) alloy with lamellar microstructure was established using isothermal hot compression tests at strain rates of 0·001–10 s −1 , test temperature between 780 and 860°C, and height reductions of 15–75. All of the flow curves exhibited a peak stress followed by noticeable flow softening, and tended to exhibit a noticeably lower rate of flow softening at the strain of the order of 0·7. The peak flow stress decreased with increasing temperature and decreasing strain rate. Flow softening of the Ti-17 alloy was caused by kinking, break-up and globularisation of lamellas during deformation and, to a small extent, by deformation heating. At high strain rate, adiabatic shear bands and flow localisation were observed to play a role in flow softening. In α+β phase region discontinuous yielding was discovered at higher temperature (⩾820°C) and 10 s −1 . According to the deformation microstructure, lamellar α phase gradually kinked, broke up and globularised of lamellas resulting from the development of shear bands and the penetration of β phase during deformation in the α+β phase field. The degree of dynamic globularisation of α phase increased with increasing strains, temperature and decreasing strain rate.
