Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Fluorinated Heterocyclic Hybrid Molecules Based on Triazole & Quinoxaline Scaffolds Lead to Highly Potent Antimalarials and Antibacterials

A series of novel fluorinated heterocyclic hybrid molecules based on triazole & quinoxaline scaffold were designed, synthesized and evaluated for inhibition of Plasmodium falciparum, a virulent human malaria parasite. Mono and bis triazole tagged quinoxaline analogs were synthesized by propargylation of 6-amino quinoxaline followed by click reaction with various substituted aromatic azides under uncertain reaction conditions. The newly synthesized molecules were assessed for antimalarial activity and three of the analogs were identified as promising leads which killed parasites with IC50 values <10 μM and showed 27-70 selective indices. Implementation of new evolutionary techniques for transmission loss reduction

This paper presents a comparison between bacteria foraging algorithm (BFA), conventional genetic algorithm (CGA) and differential genetic algorithm (DGA) with regard to transmission loss minimization considering the New England 39-bus power system as a test case. Considering all the standard equality and inequality constraints, solutions are obtained that minimize losses by changing the tap settings of various transformers. It has already been demonstrated from the previous research work that there are certain buses in the system where reactive power injections from capacitor banks can improve the voltage profile and reduce the transmission losses. This paper employs bacteria foraging algorithm (BFA) with some modifications so as to expidite the convergence of the optimization problem. A comparison between the three methods suggests the superiority of the bacteria foraging algorithm.

Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Benzimidazole-pyridine- Piperidine Hybrids as a New Class of Potent Antimicrobial Agents

A series of novel benzimidazole-pyridine-piperidine hybrids was synthesized in good yields and characterized by spectral and elemental analyses. The compounds 4a-h and 5a-c were evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial activity against gram-positive organisms viz., Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, gramnegative organisms viz., Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia and also against fungal strains like Candida albicans, Saccharomyces cervisiae of yeasts, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger according to the CLSI Standard Protocol. Compound 5a showed promising activity against all tested organism excluding Bacillus subtilis when compared to standard drugs.
