Fast-Embeddable Grooved Microneedles by Shear Actuation for Accurate Transdermal Drug Delivery

Percutaneous drug delivery using microneedles (MNs) has been extensively exploited to increase the transdermal permeability of therapeutic drugs. However, it is difficult to control the precise dosage with existing MNs and they need to be attached for a long time, so a more simple and scalable method is required for accurate transdermal drug delivery. In this study, we developed grooved MNs that can be embedded into the skin by mechanical fracture following simple shear actuation. Grooved MNs are prepared from hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a highly biocompatible and biodegradable biopolymer. By adjusting the aspect ratio (length:diameter) of the MN and the position of the groove, the MN tip inserted into the skin can be easily broken by shear force. In addition, it was demonstrated that it is possible to deliver the desired amount of triamcinolone acetonide (TCA) for alopecia areata by controlling the position of the groove structure and the concentration of TCA loaded in the MN. It was also confirmed that the tip of the TCA MN can be accurately delivered into the skin with a high probability (98% or more) by fabricating an easy-to-operate applicator to provide adequate shear force. The grooved MN platform has proven to be able to load the desired amount of a drug and deliver it at the correct dose.

On the (robust) ex post stability of constitutions

Abstract This paper explores the concept of ex post stability in voting systems, shifting the focus from the traditional ex ante perspective, where preferences are uncertain, to a setting where agents' preferences are fully known. We offer a comprehensive characterization of ex post stable constitutions within deterministic voting rule environments. We bridge the theoretical gap between ex post and ex ante stability, shedding light on their intricate relationship and implications for the design and evolution of voting systems. Additionally, our research further evaluates the resilience of these constitutions to changes in the voting environment, particularly their flexibility in response to varying alternative rule sets. This study not only contributes to a deeper understanding of constitutional stability but also provides insights into the dynamics of collective decision‐making processes.

본 논문은 연료전지용 전력변환기 개발에 관한 연구로 높은 승압비를 갖는 DC/DC 컨버터를 구성함에 있어서 기존 방식과 달리 변압기의 2차측 출력을 직렬로 연결하여 다이오드와 콘덴서 및 리액터를 줄일 수 있는 구조의 새로운 멀티 DC/DC 컨버터의 구조를 제안한다. 이러한 구조는 직렬 연결된 변압기의 2차측의 정류부분과 필터부분이 하나의 모듈로 구성되는 장점을 가지며 레벨수의 증가가 용이하다. 또한 제안된 구조에서 출력전압 리플을 줄일 수 있는 새로운 가변 위상 변위형 스위칭 방식을 제안한다.BR 이러한 모든 사항을 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 검증 하였으며, 제안된 컨버터는 넓은 영역의 출력이 요구되는 부하에 매우 유용할 것으로 사료된다.

BLDC Motor Control System using ASK DC-link PLC Technology

Power line communication or power line canier (PLC) is a system for carrying data on a conductor and can also used for electric power transmission. Now the powers used in the motor drive system are mostly DC sources. Even AC powers in some systems are generated from DC sources by the inverter. It is can be forecasted that the DC-link PLC technology will be widely used in various industrial fields. In this paper a novel BLDC motor control system using ASK DC-link PLC technology is proposed. The characteristic of this system is that the communication only needs 2 DC lines and there are no additional lines to translate the reference signals. The number of signal cables can be minimized when the DC-link PLC method is applied in the multi motor control system and the slip ring design also be simplified when this method is applied in rotation machines. The proposed motor control system is clarified by the PSIM and MATLAB simulations and tested through the hardware prototype.
